CULK & WOLF LEHMANN - "Nail Salon" (15.11.2024)

After their third album ‘Generation Maximum’, the Viennese band CULK presents a new single, which was created together with the producer and musician WOLF LEHMANN. The collaboration was no coincidence; Lehmann was already involved in the last two albums as co-producer and mixing engineer. CULK were in turn represented with a feature song on Wolf Lehmann's album ‘Human Art’, which was recently released in summer 2024.

The collaboration now bears further fruit with the joint song ‘Nail Salon’. The track projects dark and shimmering images.
A dry beat sets the tone. The guitar wails like a train signal from far away. Ambient master Wolf Lehmann contributes his extremely playful New Age sounds. There is a harmonic resolution in the chorus, but overall the song is more like a beguiling necromancy. The soundtrack for a binge-worthy mystery series.
Singer Sophie Löw once again puts her finger in the wounds lyrically. It's about toxic masculinity in a supposedly woke indie bubble. Dark demons hide behind a mask of awareness and supposed safe spaces turn out to be the opposite.
