Modecenter

Noise Rock from Vienna

With their sophomore album "Altes Glück", Modecenter present a tightly woven, impressive musical statement comprising 8 songs. Edgy, "hard" and engaging at the same time, in a post-punk, un-rockistically rocking, ass-kicking sense. With hits like "Endurance Eurodance" and 7 others, the album is well worth a listen.

"I have the time, sing the songs of this night until they echo we are ready let them come, let them come, watch them fall", ("Salto")

Modecenter are a vienna based quartet, as they have been since their beginnings. They released their first tape in 2019, followed by the album of the same name (2021, Numavi Records) and the mini-album "Peace" (2022, Rock Is Hell Records).

"Quick advice is good advice I'll split you and me in two I have no patience I've never had patience I feel no guilt anymore" sings David Bauer, who also plays guitar in "Endurance Eurodance", a first key track on the album, or the first song on it.
As usual, Hannes Gruber is on the drums, Arthur Darnhofer-Demàr plays bass and the guitar is in the expert hands of Matea.

Modecenter, which has changed slightly in terms of personnel since its beginnings, is, if I may say so, tight as fuck as a band. On the one hand, they have retained the continuity that made people cheer with a laughing fist at their acclaimed reappearance with their post-punk/post-(hard)core musical energy, a sound, a style, sparse but rich, and at the same time they move on in the 8 new tracks, wherever they go.
The sound of "Altes Glück", created with Werner Thenmayer in the Elephant West Studio, is simply stunning.

Calling an album what this album is called and then putting "New Desire" as the opener suggests that Modecenter are already thinking about something. The lyrics, in English and German, with quote/tattoo-worthy sentences.

Not explicitly "wanting" anything with their music makes it so strong, striking, shattering but also tender in a way. Each song on "Altes Glück" (which translates to "old luck") has a lot to offer.
