Eckstein

With their very first song ‘Einbruch’, the duo ‘eckstein’ impresses with the necessary punch that shakes you up and warns you about burglars who ‘want to get under our skin’. A suspense song that takes you into the dark realms like a film noir thriller.

eckstein is a musicaxl duo consisting of the two Viennese-by-choice Hagen Eckstein and Jannik Rieß. With their first single, eckstein lean towards the darker side of German-language post-punk. With a certain pinch of youthful vigour and vocal urgency, the two nevertheless manage to come across not as a nostalgia project, but as a contemporary document of everyday poetry, sometimes more melancholy and dreamy, sometimes more brute.

The duo was founded last winter when the two of them came together to make songs together without any great ulterior motives. With childlike recklessness and canned beer, they originally wanted to add musical accompaniment to western films. However, the collaboration was so easy that half a hard disc full of song sketches was created. At the time, Jannik Rieß was releasing an LP with his band Potato Beach on Siluh Records. So it made sense to knock on their door with the new demos. Et voilà: The first single, ‘Einbruch’, will be released on 21 November.
